Canadian Roots Found ("we", "us") is a trade name of EmpowerU Marketing, LLC. These terms cover the research services and the downloadable templates and guides we sell. By sending the request form, paying for a service or buying a download, you agree to them.
What we do
We do genealogical research. We look for historical records about your family, tell you where each record is held and how to order a copy, and write up how the records connect.
We are not lawyers or licensed immigration consultants, and we are not connected to IRCC or the Government of Canada. We don't give legal or immigration advice, say whether you qualify for citizenship, fill in IRCC forms or deal with IRCC for you. For those questions, talk to a Canadian immigration lawyer or a licensed consultant (RCIC).
No guaranteed result
Some records were never made, and some were lost. Archives set their own rules and can refuse or delay a request. IRCC makes its own decisions. You pay for the research, and we can't promise that a record exists, that an archive will supply it or that IRCC will accept it.
Prices and payment
Prices are in US dollars and are shown on our homepage. The Gen 0 Check is $49. Cases the check rates medium or hard get a written quote before any further work starts.
You pay before we begin, with the pay link on the page after the request form or with an invoice we email if you ask. Work starts once it is paid.
Archive and government fees are not included. You pay them directly to the archive. We tell you what to order and what it costs before you order anything.
Delivery
Delivery times run from the day payment arrives. They cover our research. They don't cover the time an archive takes to supply a record.
Cancelling and refunds on research
If you cancel before we start, we refund the full amount. Once research has started, fees are not refundable, because they pay for the searching and not for a particular result. If we can't deliver what a package describes, we'll tell you what we found and refund the difference in writing before we close the job.
Templates and guides
The templates and guides on our Shop page are files you download. Prices are in US dollars and shown on that page. Sales tax or VAT is added at checkout where it applies.
Link, a Stripe service, takes the payment and is the seller on your receipt and card statement. Your download links appear on screen as soon as the payment goes through, and we email them to you as well. The links work for 7 days. If they run out, write to us and we'll send new ones.
The files are for you and your family, including filling them in for your own applications. Please don't resell them or post them online.
The templates and guides help you organize your own application. They are not legal advice, and IRCC decides every application.
Refunds on templates and guides
All sales of templates and guides are final. You get the files the moment you pay, so we don't give refunds.
If a file won't download or open, write to [email protected] from the email address you paid with, and we'll fix it or send it again.
If the law where you live gives you a right to cancel a digital purchase, these terms don't take that right away.
What you give us
Our research starts from the names, dates and documents you send. Please check them. We aren't responsible for errors that come from information you gave us.
Using the results
The reports we write are for you and your family, including any application you make. Copies of records stay under the terms set by the archive that holds them.
Limit on our liability
If something goes wrong, our total liability is limited to what you paid us for that project or purchase.
